2002 CONVENTION ASSOCIATION OF MAJOR RELIGIOUS SUPERIORS OF WOMEN IN THE PHILIPPINES
The AMRSWP National Convention 2002 was held on June 27-30, 2002 at the Betania Retreat House in Tagaytay City. The theme was “ Women Religious: Making a Difference in Building a Society of Peace marked by Justice, Forgiveness and Solidarity… to act justly, to love tenderly and to walk humbly with your God…” (Micah 6:8)

SOLIDARITY STATEMENT FOR SR. ELENITA BELARDO, RGS
We, the Association of Major Religious Superiors in the Philippines, express our support to Sr. Elenita Belardo, RGS, 80, the former National Coordinator of the Rural Missionaries of the Philippines, the oldest Mission Partner of AMRSP. Likewise, we decry the Quezon City Prosecutor’s Office for issuing a warrant of arrest against her for perjury.

The tragic event that jolted the country has left a negative mark on our image as a nation and as a
people. We watched with horror the escalation of violence through the live mass media coverage that
could be both credited and be reprimanded for its role in the ensuing drama. We saw with disbelief the
appalling disregard for the sanctity of life; we were equally appalled by the incompetence and
ineptness of the police force.

a heinous crime, of rape and homicide.

Thirty-one children and youth will no longer see their future fulfilled. Death-dealers in bonnets or men in uniform have robbed them of their life.
