CMSP–JPICC and Mission Partners Statement
For the International Day of Prayer for Peace (April 11)
Called by Pope Leo XIV

A Prophetic Witness of Consecrated Life

We, the Conference of Major Superiors in the Philippines ; Justice, Peace, and Integrity of Creation Commission (CMSP–JPICC), together with our mission partners, respond to the Holy Father’s call for an International Day of Prayer for Peace on April 11 ; not merely as a moment of prayer but as a summons to conversion, courage, and concrete action.

As the Holy Father reminds us, “let this day be a cry that rises from the suffering of humanity ; a cry that becomes prayer ; and a prayer that becomes a path toward peace.”

In this sacred time as we commemorate the Jubilee of the Easter of St. Francis ; we are reminded that peace is not born of comfort but of surrender ; not of indifference but of radical love lived in the midst of a wounded world.

In a time when the poor are crushed by rising costs, when nations are wounded by conflict, and when creation itself bears the weight of human greed ; consecrated life cannot remain silent. Neutrality is complicity ; silence is betrayal.

Our Prophetic Stands

We denounce systems that deepen poverty and inequality ; and reject the normalization of suffering and exclusion.

We oppose the unjust burdens placed on ordinary families ; especially the rising costs of fuel, electricity, and basic goods.

We call for accountability from those in power ; that public office and economic structures serve the common good.

We stand for peace ; rejecting violence in all its forms ; and affirm that the cry of the poor and the cry of the earth are one.

Our Gospel Commitment

We commit to live evangelical poverty with integrity ; to stand with the poor not only in service but in struggle ; and to transform charity into lasting solidarity.

We will speak when silence is easier ; act when comfort tempts us to withdraw ; and walk where suffering is most real.

As the Holy Father teaches, “we cannot ask God for peace while remaining indifferent to injustice ; prayer must lead us to conversion and concrete action.”

In this International Day of Prayer for Peace ; and in the Jubilee of the Easter of St. Francis ; we choose the path of surrender that gives life ; the witness that disturbs complacency ; and the courage that builds peace.

For only a Church that stands with the poor
can speak with truth ;
and only a Church that dares to act
can become a credible sign of peace.
